It is definitely starting to feel like fall in Toronto. Sunny but breezy, my favourite kind of weather!

Went to Chapters to pick up a book today. One of my favourite authors is doing a book signing at Indigo Eaton Centre and North York Central Library next week! Sarah Dessen will be here to sign autographs and talk about her newest book, What Happened to Goodbye. Her books are so nostalgic, they take me back to lazy summer days in Edmonton.

I've become one of those people that complain about 20 degrees being too cold. About a month ago, Toronto was going through a heat wave and I was drinking slushies and hearing about people frying eggs on the sidewalk. Now everyone is asking "where has summer gone?!"

September is creeping up and for once in my life I'm not preparing to go back to school, which is sort of a relief. I'm still going to partake in back to school shopping though because sometimes the deals are way too good to pass up!

I ended up at the Latitude 53 Gallery after a long day of awkward encounters, getting locked out of my interview, waiting to get my haircut and thought I deserved a drink. Met up with my sister and her boyfriend, stalked the food people because I was so hungry, walked through a bed sheet maze and had to do a double take on a picture of a baby cow's axed head. I swear I would appreciate art so much more if it wasn't so random sometimes.

Quick run to the supermarché before Quebec City tomorrow. So excited to visit Village des Valeurs. This is exactly how I speak French...with English words in between. Felt like dressing like a straight up bum...I think I got the point across. It was the first time I have woken up to rain, so it was nice to layer a little before the sun popped out in the afternoon.

I have been surrounded by nothing but french culture for the past couple of weeks...and I have to admit it's kind of growing on me. I've been having this re-occuring dream where I get sent to the office for speaking English. I wake up and wonder why my dream hasn't come true yet.

Went to Urban China for dinner. I love chinese food but always end up going with people who can only order by number so I don't go as much as I would like to. This is my second favourite chinese restaurant in Edmonton (Sorry, but Tin Tin will always hold a special place in my heart righttt?). The best part was of course the bathroom, which was playing the hockey game in the mirror! Sharon also taught me how to "swear" in French so I don't get sent home in the first week.

I just booked my ticket to Montreal (Don't worry, it's a direct flight). Leaving earlier than expected, but may end up at Lady Gaga on the 28th. Keep your fingers crossed!

Flavour Of the Week

I'm trying to grow out my bangs like Taylor in The Rachel Zoe Project. I heart her style and attitude problem.

Went to the Value Village sale after school yesterday. I love the system that Vicky, Tifanie and I have when we go. We split up, come together after half an hour of looking, realize we have too much stuff and need a cart, then split up for a second time before we line up to try stuff on. Tifanie and I usually pick things out for each other hah it's so cute. No don't worry, I won't run Value Village out of business.

Sorry my pics are so out of focus sometimes. If you want to know who takes my photos for me, it's actually a self timer and I use a plastic table as my tripod. I KNOW, my sister makes fun of me for it.

Went to Drumheller with the family and Mack on the weekend. My memory of Drumheller is exactly as I remembered it. Hot, touristy and fake dinosaurs everywhere. I wanted to hike up to the top of the hoodoos, but with the +34 degree weather and the wind picking up, I'm sure I would have lost my hat. The best part was the suspension bridge and eating sushi! August 21 is Fob Day in Richmond, BC :)

Oh and I know I'm so white, but I can't tan to save my life.

Major Bedhead

The last time I wore this cardigan, my professor asked if it was vintage. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing that something looks predictably secondhand.

Forgive me for my major bedhead, but I don't own a hair brush. My sister is probably the only person who will catch my reference LOL.

I think the high today was 29 degrees, and it's only going to get warmer. I know everyone and their mom owns this raglan from American Apparel, but I have this weird phobia of wearing just a t-shirt and having the straps of my backpack touch my shoulder...so I'm always in long sleeves.

Only ten more econ classes until I am free! Until then, I pretty much spend every waking moment being scared on the third floor of the library. It's unbearably cold and I swear it's haunted.

In The Navy

The problem with white pants is that you can see exactly where I dropped the tomato and spilled iced cappuccino. I think the trick is to bring a tide to go pen, but you know, I'm lazy so I would rather look like a slob who never washes my clothes. I am absolutely in love with mixing reds and navy blue, and white pants just spell summer. They are so clean and fresh. I found a pair of sweet snakeskin gladiator sandals from an unlikely place: Sears. They will be coming home with me as soon as they have a scratch and save event, which hopefully will be next week.

Story I Heard

I can't get enough of Frye boots. These are my third pair and I am beyond satisfied with the comfort and the heel that instantly puts me at the same height as my dad. They are a little pricier than black boots that you find at generic stores like Aldo and Town Shoes, but I can assure you that you will get what you pay for.

This outfit was inspired by Michael Jackson's performance at the 1988 Grammys. RIP, King of Style.

Changes

jovovich hawk dress, thrifted cowboy boots, Balenciaga, Dior shades

My bangs were driving me crazy so I decided to just take the plunge and commit to the full deal..which meant taking off a good five inches off my head and apparently getting bangs straight across the forehead when I asked for sideswept. I'm definitely not used to it being this short, but change is good...right? It will take some time to get used to, but I think it will be a fun time to experiment with different looks.

On a side note...I guess I'm still on the lookout for a new hairdresser!

I know I can't call it a night until my friends make fun of my outfit. Scored this faux fur jacket at Value Village for 50% off, and the shoes...let's not talk about how it gave me swelled toes and two blisters. Love is a bitch, that's for sure. Excited to almost be done my spring class...now if I can only sew my pjs without sewing wrong sides together!

BTW, GO DETROIT <3

Flower Power

Photobucket
Photobucket
H&M jacket (sisters), Jovovich-Hawk for Target Dress, Club Monaco tights, Vintage Frye Boots, Balenciaga, F21 sunglasses

Ignore the cheesy title, but 12 hour days have truly turned me into a robot. What I would give to have one me day and get my hair done, watch the hills and shop for all my summer essentials, but instead I put myself through hell by enrolling in spring and summer classes. Montreal is in the works, so it might not turn out to be such a bad summer afterall...I hope.

I'm really into floral patterns right now, and this dress was too perfect to pass up. I definitely have a feeling that I will be sporting more dresses this summer. See, I can be girlie too. Oh and for those who live in Edmonton, H&M in West Edmonton Mall got the Matthew Williamson line for H&M on Thursday, May 14. Go and check it out, before it's sold out!

Please forgive me for the lack of posts...I really do wear clothes but spring classes started this week and working approximately 35 hours on top of that, I have been really sick so it's been a crazy two weeks. The weather here has been weird, making it difficult to get dressed in the morning. If the weather calls for rain, I usually wear a beret...with holes in it. I don't know what the purpose of that is but it sure beats carrying an umbrella. Oh and I really need a bang trim...trust me I know.

Influence

Photobucket
Photobucket
H&M faux leather jacket, F21 black t-shirt, Mcq Scarf, MJ Stam, J Brand jeans, Juicy Couture shoes

• High class slums actually look like San Francisco
• Acid wash denim should definitely be tried on before purchasing
• Savage Garden is timeless...just like Chanel!
• T&T baskets are so fun to pull around
• Driving around to the other side of the mall proves difficult when it's the worlds largest mall
• When in doubt about shoe colour, just "wear a top that matches the shoe colour"
• Personally, I like the Baroque style
• Shopping for Korean Hot Pot is hard when everything is written in Korean
